Privacy and disclaimers

How this site handles your information.

This site is run personally by Dr Anith Chacko. It collects as little as possible, and only to do the things you ask it to do.

What this notice covers

This notice explains what personal information this site collects, why, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). It is separate from any notice that applies to RDISA or the Radhiant Group, which run their own services and their own privacy terms.

What is collected, and why

If you sign up for the newsletter or request the free guide, the email platform Kit collects your email address, and your name if you give it, so it can send you what you asked for. If you email an enquiry, your message reaches one inbox, read by Anith. The site also uses privacy-first analytics through Vercel to count visits and understand which writing is read. It does not build advertising profiles of you.

Consent and marketing

You receive the newsletter only because you asked for it. Every email carries a working unsubscribe link, and you can leave at any time. Your email address is used to send the writing and the guide, and nothing else, and it is never sold.

Who processes your information

Two service providers process information on this site's behalf: Kit for email, and Vercel for hosting and analytics. Each holds it under its own terms. No other party receives your information.

Retention

Your email details are kept for as long as you stay subscribed, and deleted within 30 days after you unsubscribe. Enquiry emails are kept for up to 12 months after our last contact, unless a longer period is needed for legal or record-keeping reasons.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask what information is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, and ask for it to be deleted. To do any of these, or to raise a concern, emailanith@anithchacko.com. The Information Officer for this site is Dr Anith Chacko, reachable at the same address. You also have the right to complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.

Medical information disclaimer

Any health or screening information on this site is general, and is shared to help people understand how access to care works. It is not personal medical advice, and it is not a diagnosis. For advice about your own health or screening, speak to your own doctor. If your enquiry is about a mammogram or a booking, that lives with the RDISA team at rdisa.co.za, not here.

How the writing is checked

The essays draw on first-hand experience and published evidence. Pieces that touch on clinical topics carry a visible review date and, where relevant, their sources. If you spot something that needs correcting, emailanith@anithchacko.com and it will be looked at and put right.
